DIY Vaginal Steam with Chinese Herbs

 
 

As women, our vaginas withstand a lot. Between menstruation, sexual intercourse, childbirth, and changing hormones, it’s normal to have discomfort now and then. The typical rule of thumb is to leave your vagina be - since it has self-cleaning secretions and using soap could disrupt the pH level. But sometimes, a little reset is just what we need down there. Vaginal steaming has been around for hundreds of years, but only recently became a more popular self-care practice. So does how does it work? A guide to DIY vaginal steaming 

Mix one cup of your herb of choice with water and put the mixture into a steamer, then squat over the steamer for 20-60 minutes. Herbs most often used in vaginal steaming include:

  • Mugwort 

  • Wormwood

  • Chamomile 

  • Calendula 

  • Basil 

  • Oregano
