But first, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page . . .

What is a Lymphatic Therapy Treatment and What are the Benefits?

Lymphatic therapy is a gentle, rhythmic hands-on treatment performed without oil or lotion that works to stimulate the body's lymphatic system—promoting detoxification, improving immune function, and enhancing overall well-being.

The benefits of lymphatic therapy are extensive, as this service perfectly aligns with our mission at Magnolia Wellness—to help you live your healthiest, most vibrant life.  Lymphatic therapy can help reduce swelling and improve circulation, promoting faster recovery from injuries and surgeries. It can also aid in alleviating chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia and autoimmune diseases. Furthermore, the deeply relaxing nature of the treatment can help ease stress and anxiety, contributing to better mental health.

The benefits are even greater with the use of the Lymphstar Pro machine. This cutting-edge technology helps break up congestion and remove inflammation faster than manual treatment alone. One session with this machine is the equivalent of five manual lymph massages!

With the addition of Jenna and Amanda to our team, we're now able to offer these transformative lymphatic therapy treatments to even more people! We're excited about the positive impact this will have on our community and look forward to seeing the incredible results for our clients.

But rather than just telling you about these new additions and the fantastic services they offer, we thought it would be best to let them introduce themselves. So, without further ado, let's hear about the many benefits of lymphatic therapy treatments first hand from Jenna and Amanda.

What services will you be offering at Magnolia Wellness?

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

How would you describe the benefits of lymphatic drainage therapy to someone who has never experienced it before?

Lymph drainage is a way to clean house in your body so to speak. The benefits are far reaching, however they can be very specific depending on the person and their situation.

Here's the way I like to put it: The lymph is your system in charge of both detoxification and immune functioning. Since it plays such a large role in the body's ability to heal itself and find balance, clearing out this system and supporting it in working more effectively can help healing occur in your body on almost any level.

It can improve your immune functioning, reduce systemic inflammation (both acute and chronic), reduce overt swelling, support healing post-surgery, help manage and improve chronic conditions like lyme disease and auto-immune conditions, and aid in detoxing from mold, heavy metals, or any other toxicity exposure.

What specific conditions or health concerns do you especially like helping people improve with lymphatic drainage treatments?

I would say my bread and butter is working with those with auto-immune conditions, lyme disease, toxicities (mostly mold) and those looking to reduce their overall inflammation (whether full body or breast health - oftentimes working with a thermography scan before and after to see the difference).

Due to the toxic state of our world, I truly believe that everyone can benefit from receiving lymphatic drainage. It’s especially great to hear someone get off the table and say, “This is exactly what my body has been missing!” after their first treatment. Those are most often people with the aforementioned conditions. To them, lymph drainage is sometimes the one thing that helps them feel better, and it's so rewarding to be able to offer that to them.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering trying lymphatic drainage for the first time?

There's literally no downside to trying it! Whether you feel a difference after one session or not is dependent on a variety of factors, however most people find it very relaxing. The really cool thing about lymph drainage is that, since it works so closely with our ability to heal and find homeostasis, we don't need to know what's wrong to see a benefit (as long as someone doesn't have any contraindications). “Mystery ailments" are my jam!

Do you have other treatments or techniques you like incorporating with lymphatic drainage?

No, I'm a purist! I have been specializing in lymph drainage for over a decade, and that's all I do (although I do incorporate the lymphstar machine). I guess that just shows how passionate I really am about this!

I personally feel that by dedicating myself to this one method of healing, I’m able to focus deeper and continuously refine my skills so I can be of better service to my clients. After 11 years, I consider myself a specialist in both technique and knowledge.

Can you share a little bit about you and your story? How long have you been doing this? How would you describe your approach to bodywork and wellness?

Over 10 years! (Been a massage therapist for nearly 15, but have been focusing solely on lymph drainage for 11). I am honored to hold space for each client and support their highest path of healing. I'm of the mind that with the state of our world, lymph focused treatments are the treatment of the future.

My story: I've known I was supposed to do lymph drainage since I first heard the word uttered in massage school. It was like a lightbulb went off! I have a breadth and depth of training and experience, have trained others in the modality, and consider myself an educator (of both therapists and lay persons) at heart. I have worked at multiple, high profile alternative cancer centers, wellness centers, and have been in private practice until this year. I work intuitively, meaning always moving with the flow of lymph - holding space for what is, working with the body and the lymph, and allowing it to change without forcing.

If there was one thing you could say to someone who’s on the fence about booking a service with you, what would it be?

C'mon! There is literally no downside to giving it a try!

What services will you be offering at Magnolia Wellness?

Lymphatic drainage, therapeutic massage, and prenatal massage.

How would you describe the benefits of lymphatic drainage treatment to someone who has never experienced it before?

Lymphatic drainage treatment is primarily intended to improve circulation of lymph fluid within the lymphatic system, which can reduce swelling, inflammation, water retention, stress, and cleanse toxins from the body while enhancing immune function, improving recovery time from surgery or injury, and providing relief from autoimmune conditions.

What specific conditions or health concerns do you especially like helping people improve with lymphatic drainage treatments?

I especially enjoy treating clients who are recovering from surgery or dealing with autoimmune conditions because I want to help relieve their discomfort and improve their recovery through periodic lymphatic drainage treatments. Lymphatic drainage is a gentle treatment that allows me to promote bodily healing when other forms of massage treatment may be too physical.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering trying lymphatic drainage for the first time?

I would advise that the client first be aware that lymphatic drainage is a gentle, relaxing treatment that is typically done without oil using very light touch in a rhythmic manner. This is because I have found that new clients often have the impression that lymphatic drainage involves a more physical massage experience. I would also advise them to consider following up with a few regularly scheduled treatments because the benefits of lymphatic drainage become more pronounced after multiple treatments whereas the effects of a single treatment may be subtle.

Do you have other treatments/ techniques you like incorporating with lymphatic drainage?

I like to incorporate a short scalp massage at the beginning of the service to help connect with the client and allow them to settle their mind and relax on the massage table.

Can you share a little bit about you and your story? How long have you been doing this? How would you describe your approach to bodywork and wellness?

I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2010. I began working in my first spa setting in 2012 in Irvine before relocating with my husband to Washington state in 2014. While in Washington, I worked at a high-end luxury spa in Bellevue, WA for 6 years before returning to California in 2022. My work experience has allowed me to continue my massage education, learn new modalities, and refine my massage technique while being focused on guest services. I truly believe massage and lymphatic work can be beneficial to everyone and should be incorporated for overall wellness.

In addition to Lymphatic Therapy Treatment, you’ll also be offering therapeutic massage and prenatal massage. Can you share more about those services?

I really enjoy using hot stones during therapeutic massage to warm muscles and soften tissue--everyone comes away happy and relaxed after a good hot stone massage! I also like to incorporate mixed modalities such as long and flowy Lomi Lomi strokes, stretches, and trigger point therapy, when appropriate, to create a relaxing yet effective massage based on my clients' needs.

My biggest joy about prenatal massage is being able to focus on Mom because this is her time to be pampered. Pregnancy involves so much emotional and physical stress and it is important for Mom to set aside time to relax and be comfortable. Prenatal massage can help decrease swelling, provide pain relief, reduce stress, and improve sleep. During prenatal massage, I typically use a wedge pillow and a body pillow to support the body and provide comfort while I work on the scalp, neck, arms, legs, feet and back.

If there was one thing you could say to someone who’s on the fence about booking a service with you, what would it be?

Don't be shy. Whether you are new to massage and wellness and wanting to feel better or a seasoned guest, hop on the massage table and breathe. I invite you to relax and let me help you to live your best life. I will listen to you and can customize a service that would benefit you the most.
