Our Baby-Making Fertility Smoothie: How to Make It and Why It Works

When preparing the body for pregnancy, the quality of the egg and sperm are essential.

What I love about these ingredients and this smoothie is it not only makes women more likely to get pregnant but, if they are already pregnant, it's incredible for keeping baby in the belly healthy.

For my already pregnant mommas, these foods will be beautiful for building baby's DNA and overall development.

You’re about to see our special recipe for a smoothie that promotes a healthy thyroid—which is a game-changer for your fertility.

But why?

When preparing the body for pregnancy, the health of your thyroid is top priority.

The #1 Target for a Healthy Pregnancy

Maintaining a healthy thyroid is directly linked to increasing your chances of conceiving.

The thyroid gland regulates various bodily functions. One of its primary responsibilities is producing hormones that help control metabolism, heart rate, and blood pressure.

And what does this have to do with pregnancy? The thyroid hormones produced by this gland impact the reproductive system. It regulates the menstrual cycle, ovulation,

When the thyroid isn't functioning optimally, it can disrupt the balance of reproductive hormones. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) can affect fertility negatively.

In the case of hypothyroidism, ovulation can be disrupted or irregular. This can lead to difficulties in conceiving or an increased risk of miscarriage.

On the other hand, hyperthyroidism can also interfere with normal menstrual cycles and make it harder to get pregnant.

Maintaining a healthy thyroid is crucial not only for conceiving but also for ensuring a healthy pregnancy. Thyroid hormones are essential for fetus development and the function of the placenta.

An imbalanced thyroid during pregnancy can also increase the risk of complications, such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, premature birth, and low birth weight.

Understanding the role of the thyroid in pregnancy is vital for anyone planning to conceive or currently expecting. A healthy thyroid supports hormonal balance, ovulation, and the proper development of the fetus.

Fertility-Boosting Ingredients That Support the Thyroid

Avocado & Cashew Butter

When we think of the thyroid, we typically think of hormone balance. With the thyroid regulating heart rate, blood pressure, and metabolism, you can guarantee this can impact fertility.

If the thyroid is off, so is ovulation. This can unfortunately be a key player in infertility and/or miscarriage. To avoid this, there are many wonderful foods we can include in our diet to keep the thyroid healthy and happy.

Essential fatty acids (like avocado and cashew butter, for example, are two of the best foods to help with the implantation of the egg.

Brazil Nuts

Rich in selenium, these nuts should be your go-to. Selenium is essential for maintaining the production of our thyroid hormones. Fortunately, they also make for creamy nut butter and are an added bit of yummy saltiness in your smoothie or salad.

Spinach

Common iron deficiency is way too common today—luckily, there are plenty of ways we can consume more of it.

Considering iron is pivotal in supporting your body with the manufacturing of thyroid hormones, it is essential when trying to get pregnant.

While sources of meat like liver and bison are incredible sources of iron, spinach can be a beautiful plant-based option. When using spinach (and other dark leafy greens), you are receiving the bonus of a natural cleanser for the body. They work efficiently in improving circulation and purifying blood.

It’s also important to note that Brazil nuts can help with your body's pH. Why is this important? An imbalanced pH level in the vagina can damage sperm, ultimately preventing the fertilization of the egg.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a nutrient-dense, freshwater blue-green algae that contain the highest levels of protein content in all plant foods. Spirulina alkalizes the body and is rich in antioxidants that are key for egg health.

Vital Proteins Bone Broth Collagen

Bone broth is arguably one of the most beneficial ingredients for those of you suffering from fertility challenges.

Why?

It’s jam-packed with protein and cell-building ingredients, nourishes your blood, and strengthens your gut and kidneys. All of these are key to an efficient reproductive system.

So...how can you incorporate all of these nutritious baby-making ingredients into your diet?

Disclaimer: In TCM, warming foods and beverages during fertility is very important. Make sure you leave out ice when blending so that this recipe can be close to room temp when sipping.
